Hope for Hurting Parents
Who We Are
A Journey of surviving to thriving!
Hope For Hurting Parents was started by Tom and Dena Yohe in 2011, based on their own 10-year journey with their daughter Renee, who struggled with mental health issues, addiction, and self-injury. They continue to lead free Zoom meetings each month and send out inspirational emails weekly. They encourage people to start small in-person groups in their own community, which we did three years ago. People seem to find comfort and strength from meeting with others who have gone through similar situations. At our support group meetings, we discuss one of 22 topics as outlined in the Yohe’s workbook, such as Self-Care, Enabling, Worry and Anxiety, Hope, and Guarding Your Family. The workbook also includes prayers, exercises, websites, and other resources. Support group sessions are free and open to anyone who is a parent, caregiver, or loved-one with someone who struggles with mental health issues, estrangement, addictions, gender dysphoria, incarceration, homelessness, or any other problem that causes you to experience emotional and spiritual turmoil.
Our mission is to give comfort, encouragement, and hope to hurting parents/caregivers on their journey from surviving to thriving.
